This bill would have allowed physicians to involuntarily hospitalize anyone who was present in a hospital, if they felt that person was a risk to themselves or others due to addiction or mental illness. Holding a person against there will is a very serious issue. Currently there is a court process that is required, removing that process also removes essential protections for individuals. This is especially true for individuals with mental health needs.
