ACLU-WV FILES SUIT OVER ABUSE OF TRANS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia (ACLU-WV) and Teresa Toriseva of Toriseva Law in Wheeling have filed a lawsuit in Harrison County Circuit Court over the abusive treatment of a transgender high school student, and following the school system’s continued failure to follow its own policies regarding the matter.

ACLU-WV Condemns Morrisey for Attacking LGBTQ Rights at the U.S. Supreme Court

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey stood firmly on the wrong side of history when he filed a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court on Aug. 23 asking the court to rule against three individuals who had been fired for being LGBTQ. The three cases include the first transgender civil rights case to be heard by the high court.
