As West Virginia’s crisis of jail overcrowding and rising incarceration rates continue, justice-impacted people and criminal law reform advocates rallied on Tuesday at the State Capitol on various pieces of legislation currently under consideration. 

As West Virginia’s crisis of overcrowded jails continues, the West Virginia Family of Convicted People has planned several events for justice-impacted people to come together and make their voices heard at the West Virginia Legislature.

The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia (ACLU-WV) has filed a lawsuit in Cabell County Circuit Court against the county’s 911 system and county commission for violating state open records laws.

After months of discussion, The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia (ACLU-WV) and Fairness West Virginia (Fairness WV) announced today that talks have stalled with Harrison County Schools regarding a November 2018 incident involving the verbal abuse of a transgender high school student.
