The ACLU-WV is excited to bring back our Bill of Rights Bash event this year because it gives us a chance to honor two fantastic West Virginians.

One of this year’s honorees is Anthony Majestro, who will be receiving the Sid Bell Memorial Award for service to the ACLU-WV affiliate.  In addition to his work at his Charleston-based firm Powell & Majestro P.L.L.C. protecting and representing many victims of consumer fraud and defective products, Tony has been a long-time friend of the ACLU of West Virginia.

He has served as a cooperating attorney on a number of important cases with the ACLU-WV.  His hard work has helped to protect the rights and health of West Virginians.

In the 2014 water crisis that left people incarcerated at the South Central Regional Jail without adequate access to water, Tony worked diligently alongside ACLU-WV’s legal staff to ensure that those at the mercy of the system received appropriate care. In 2016, Tony filed a lawsuit with the ACLU-WV to ensure that thousands of people in Cabell County who had registered to vote online would be able to cast their ballots. And more recently, Tony has worked with ACLU-WV to protect the free speech rights and reproductive rights of West Virginians.

In addition to his litigation work, Tony has served as an invaluable resource and mentor to ACLU-WV legal staff over the years.

We are grateful for all of Tony’s hard work and support, and we are thrilled to honor him with this well-deserved award.

You can help support the ACLU-WV by sponsoring this event (tickets can also be purchased at this link), or congratulating Tony by placing an ad in the event program.  We hope to see you on November 16th.
