Poca High School administrators’ gendered dress code for graduation ceremonies next month is unlawful and must be rescinded immediately, ACLU-WV has informed county school officials.
In a letter to Putnam County Schools Superintendent John Hudson, ACLU-WV Legal Diretor Loree Stark said the policy, which would be applied discriminately to transgender students, is a violation of the U.S. Constitution and federal civil rights laws.
ACLU-WV has asked for a response by Friday. Graduation is scheduled for June 1.
