The American Civil Liberties Union and the American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia have urged Gov. Jim Justice to veto HB 3293, the transgender student athlete ban.
If enacted, the bill would violate both the United States Constitution and Title IX of the federal Civil Rights Act, states the letter signed by ACLU Deputy Director of Transgender Justice Chase Strangio and ACLU-WV Executive Director Joseph Cohen.
ACLU-WV also urges its supporters to sign our petition demanding he bill be vetoed.
