As development director, Rose is ACLU-WV’s chief fundraiser, planning events and maintaining the organization’s relationship with our donors, big and small. She also helps develop our annual budget and oversees our grant funding.
Rose joins the ACLU with a professional advertising and marketing background, most recently as Communications Coordinator for Auge Gray Drake Collective Works. She has also co-owned a local Charleston photography business and was a co-founder of Charleston’s former horror and science fiction convention, ShockaCon.She is passionate about LGBTQ+ civil rights and reproductive rights, and she volunteers time and talent to WVFREE, the Women’s Health Center of West Virginia, and Rainbow Pride WV.
Rose’s two children are currently working on their bachelor’s degrees, and her third “child” is our ACLU-WV mascot, an adopted cat named Bill O’Rights, who often accompanies her to the office. She has a penchant for singing anywhere/anytime, with or without a microphone, and plays “Sarah Jane” to Ronn Smith’s “Doctor Who” in the fan-fiction series, “Doctor Who: The Classic Series Regenerated.” Halloween is Rose’s favorite holiday, but she’ll take any opportunity to slip into a costume and get creative with hair and make-up design.
