Separation of Church and State Is Still A Thing

Governor Justice has issued a proclamation declaring November 19 through November 25 to be “Christian Heritage Week” in West Virginia.  It’s the 26th consecutive “Christian Heritage Week” in the state, and we are hoping, the last.  We sent a letter (see below) to Governor Justice asking him to end the practice.

End the Religion-Based Prohibition On Sunday Hunting

Hunting is deeply ingrained in the culture of West Virginia. It’s a tradition passed down from generation to generation across Appalachia. Indeed, the WV Constitution has a provision that guarantees people’s right to keep and bear arms for “lawful hunting and recreational use.”

Religious liberty untouched by recent court decision

Since the Supreme Court ruled last month that gay and lesbian couples have a constitutionally protected freedom to marry, many same-sex couples, along with their friends and families, have celebrated. At the same time, questions have been raised about the impact of the decision on religious liberty. Let us be clear — it has no impact at all.
