ACLU Investigates Clay County Bus Driver's Alleged Homophobic Remarks

The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia (ACLU-WV) filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request today with the Clay County Schools Superintendent, Joe Paxton, and the Clay County Sherriff’s Office regarding an alleged incident that involved a school bus driver’s use of a gay slur.

Love Wins In The USA

The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia applauds the Supreme Court of the United States for ruling on the side of love. In its historic decision 5-4 decision with Kennedy writing for the majority, the Court ruled to grant marriage equality for same-sex couples seeking the right to obtain marriage licenses and be legally recognized in all 50 states.

Protect LGBTQ Students

With the U.S. Supreme Court on the cusp of issuing a historic ruling on the freedom to marry for same-sex couples,it is mindboggling that there is still no federal law that explicitly protects LGBT students from discrimination in our public schools.

SCOTUS to review marriage equality...

The U.S. Supreme Court granted review of a federal appeals court ruling that upheld bans in four states on the freedom to marry and recognition of marriages of same-sex couples legally performed in other states.
