Blocked on Social: Nine Elected Officials, Police Dept. Put on Notice

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Nine elected West Virginia officials and one police department have been notified that they are violating the First Amendment rights of their constituents who they have blocked on Facebook and Twitter.

Wobblies' Free Speech Under Attack. We're Fighting Back.

In October 2019, Sam Krzys, a member of law enforcement who works as a school resource officer in Weirton, posted a photo of himself proudly standing by a hooded figure hanging from a noose in a tree in his front yard.  In his post, he referred to his family as the “crazy Krzys clan.”

Dunbar's Proposed Anti-Panhandling Ordinance is Unconstitutional

The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia (ACLU-WV) informed the city of Dunbar today that its proposed ordinance restricting panhandling in city limits is unconstitutional.

ACLU-WV Files Records Request Over Restricted Library Book

The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia (ACLU-WV) has sent a records request to the Upshur County Public Library regarding the library's decision to restrict access to a children's book that features a same-sex love story.
